Description: Mint State. From the Tom D Slater (Slater's Americana) Collection of British and related Coinages. From Google: To commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897, the Protestant Board of School Commissioners of Montreal commissioned, struck, and distributed approximately 8,500 medals to schoolchildren in the city. The medals, designed by Henry Birks & Sons, were produced in white metal for general students and bronze for prize winners, featuring the queen and the city of Montreal's crest.
