Description: XF. A very interesting and highly important historical coin. Halley's comet appeared on August 6th 87 BC and according to the NASA ADS database the comet trajectory was at the east side of Ophiuchus and through Aquila and Pegasos. I believe that this coin records both the comet and path. It is highly possible that these small denomination pieces were struck to commemorate the event and were given away as a donative at a festival shortly after the comet appeared.
